GREEN BAY, Wis. – The UIC women's tennis team (11-6, 5-1 HL) won its fourth-straight match with a 7-0 sweep of Green Bay (1-12, 0-7 HL) Friday evening. The win was UIC's second-straight shutout and fifth conference win of the season.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS
Viktoria Seifert and
Bianca Zuzu made their first appearance as a pair and bested Samm Pedersen and Maria Neff at No. 2, 6-1.
Rachel Le Comber and
Melika LeBlanc were up 4-2 in the No. 1 match, which went unfinished, as
Georgie Sanders and
Miranda Rodriguez Diaz de Leon won the No. 3 match by forfeit to give UIC the early 1-0 lead.
SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS
Sanders blanked Tallie Piaskowski at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0, and LeBlanc dominated against Neff in the No. 3 spot for a 6-0, 6-1 win. Seifert won her match at No. 5 Â in similar fashion, 6-0, 6-1, versus Sterre Tijssens to secure the win for the Flames, and earn her ninth-straight singles win.
Lejla Colic competed at No. 1 and took down Theresa Tebon, 6-1, 6-1 and Le Comber grabbed her seventh-straight singles win at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1 to remain undefeated against conference opponents. Zuzu's match at No. 6 went to UIC by forfeit.
