@UICWomensSoccer Opens Homestand Friday

Flames to face UMKC and Toledo this weekend

CHICAGO – UIC (0-2) will begin a four-match homestand, the longest ever for the program, this weekend when it welcomes UMKC (1-1) and Toledo (0-1-1) to Flames Field. The home opener against the Kangaroos is set for Friday at 7 p.m. CT before the Flames close out the weekend with the Rockets on Sunday at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
UIC opened its season last weekend at the UNLV Invitational (Aug. 17/19). It was a tough go for the Flames as they fell to host UNLV, 5-1, before they were shut out by UC Santa Barbara, 7-0.

UIC was held to a total of 12 shots across the two games with Annie Brown, Emily Kavanaugh and Emily Valentine being the only players to have two shots apiece. Seven of those attempts were on goal, including Megan Bowman's against the Rebels. Tara Khayam played all 180 minutes in goal for the Flames and made 14 saves.

WEEKEND OPPONENTS
Following a 12-7-1 season, UMKC owns a 1-1 record after defeating a familiar opponent to UIC in Oakland, 2-1, and falling to Saint Louis, 2-0. In the two games, the Roos attempted 20 shots, led by six from Reighan Childers, and put nine on goal. Lexie Howard and Kelsey Mothershead scored the two goals while Rylan Childers notched two assists. Anna Lillig controlled the goal in both matches and made eight stops.

The Flames met with the Roos for the first time last season and fell, 2-0, on the road.

Coming off a 12-8-3 campaign, Toledo holds a record of 0-1-1 as it fell to Xavier, 2-1, and tied with UIC's fellow Horizon League member Wright State, 1-1. The Rockets took 25 shots and put 13 on goal in the two matches. Hannah Scafaria was credited with most of the production as she scored the two goals and produced a team-high nine shots with seven on goal. Madison Perrin was staked in goal for both games and saved 11 shots. The Rockets will take on Valparaiso on Friday before heading to Chicago.

Sunday's match will be the first meeting between the Flames and Rockets.
