CHICAGO – UIC (0-4-0) continues its home stint with the midweek matchup against Indiana State (1-2-1) on Wednesday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT at Flames Field and the match can be streamed live on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
UIC opened up a four-game homestand over the weekend with UMKC and Toledo. The Flames fell in dramatic fashion Friday night (Aug. 24) in overtime to the Roos, 2-1, before they were taken out Sunday (Aug. 26) by the Rockets, 6-1.

Despite the results, UIC put up 27 shots across the two games, featuring a season-high output of 19 versus UMKC, as they put 12 of those attempts on goal. The effort was led by
Emily Valentine (4) while
Rebeca Pallo put all three of her looks on target.

Meaghan Smith and
Tamae Douglas were responsible for the goals scored. Smith's tally was the first of her career while Douglas's came as her first of the season.

In the two complete games, goalkeeper
Tara Khayam made 11 saves on 19 shots faced.

SEASON-STARTING WOES
The start of the 2018 campaign has been a tough one for UIC. Through four games, it has been outscored, 20-3, and outshot, 79-39. Even with a 0-4-0 start, as well, in comparison to last season, the Flames had allowed just eight goals and had outshot opponents, 61-59.

Smith, Douglas and
Megan Bowman make up the three goals scored. Of the 39 shot attempts, Valentine owns a team-high six while Douglas and Pallo hold a team-best three shots on goal apiece.

Khayam has played every minute in goal. While she has made 25 saves, she holds a 4.97 goals-against average on 20 goals allowed.

SCOUTING THE SYCAMORES
After four games, Indiana State holds a record of 1-2-1 with its lone win coming against SIUE, 3-1. The Sycamores own three goals on the year scored by Caitlyn Eddy, Alina Steffen and Katie Wells. Wells also has a team-high five shots with four on goal as the team collectively holds 17 shots with 10 on net. Hannah Sullivan has played all 380 minutes in goal and has made 18 saves with five goals allowed for a 1.18 GAA.

Indiana State holds a 1-0 lead in the all-time series with UIC. The two teams met in the season opener last year and the Sycamores came away with the 2-0 win on their home turf.
