UIC to Battle with Cleveland State Saturday

Flames have won last three meetings with Vikings

CHICAGO – UIC (2-10-0, 1-2-0 HL) will play its next three matches on the road beginning Saturday when it heads to Cleveland, Ohio, for a bought with the Vikings. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CT at Krenzler Field.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Flames endured their first Horizon League loss at home this season when it was narrowly defeated by IUPUI, 1-0, on Wednesday (Sept. 26). They saw their four match scoring streak come to an end as they could not put any of their 11 shots in the goal. On the opposite end of the field, Haley Leanna set a career high in saves as she was forced to make nine stops.
 
SEASON STAT LINE
UIC has attempted 34 of its 119 shots on the year against conference opponents and has had 10-plus shot outputs in two of the three matches. Kavanaugh boasts 14 attempts, the second highest total in the League, and has put nine of the team's 17 on goal.
 
The Flames have scored three goals so far in Horizon League action with two of those tallies going to Emily Kavanaugh, who is tied for a League-leading five points.
 
Coming off a career-high nine saves, Leanna has made 40 stops this season, with 19 in Horizon League play to rank third among conference keepers. Overall she has two shutouts and allowed 11 goals in 585 minutes for a 1.69 goals-against average, and a mark of 1.67 in conference action.
 
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
Cleveland State is currently one of four teams in the Horizon League to have an unbeaten conference record this season after they defeated Youngstown State, 2-0, and IUPUI, 3-1, and tied with Oakland, 1-1 (2OT). Its additional wins on the year came against Ohio, 4-0, Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-0, Chicago State, 3-1, and Howard, 2-1 (OT).
 
The Vikings own the third highest total in shots this season, both overall (149) and in conference (49). McKenna Vento (25), Jenna Prathapa (20) and Sarah Krause (19) have taken the most looks and combined for 30 of the team's 63 shots on goal while they also make up 10 of the 19 goals. Vento (11) and Ja'Maya Ward (9) have the most attempts in League action, during which they have each scored two goals to aid in CSU's total of six.
 
Stevie Holbrook has started every game in goal this season and tallied 926 minutes. She has made 41 saves, with 10 against conference foes, on her way to three shutouts, and has allowed just 10 goals for a 0.97 GAA, with a minimal mark of 0.62 in League play.
 
UIC has won the last three meetings with CSU, and two came as shutouts including last season's 2-0 victory at home. The lone match taken by the Vikings was in 2014 with a 1-0 decision in double overtime.
