Flames Downed by Milwaukee in Regular Season Finale, 3-0

UIC finishes the regular season 9-7 in Horizon League play

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The UIC volleyball team (20-10, 9-7 HL) wrapped up the regular season on Friday evening with a 3-0 loss to top-contending Milwaukee (24-5, 11-5 HL). The Flames now look ahead to the postseason and next week's Horizon League tournament.

Match Highlights
Set One
  • A pair of 4-0 runs gave the Panthers the 11-3 advantage to start set one.
  • Alexandria Hicks and Michelle Glover put down kills for the Flames and Lauren Musante delivered an ace, but Milwaukee's lead grew with six unanswered points, 19-6.
  • The Panthers would take set one, 25-9.
Set Two
  • Set two was a closer battle, as Milwaukee led by just two near the halfway point, 15-13.
  • The Flames took over the lead with five-straight points, 20-17. Musante contributed a kill and another ace in the run, while Glover paired up with Paola Santiago for a block.
  • The Panthers responded with five unanswered points of their own, but Santiago and James buried feeds to bring the set to a draw at 22.
  • The two teams traded kills to tie it at 23 and again at 24, but Milwaukee got the two-point advantage off consecutive terminations, 26-24.
Set Three
  • UIC cut at an early 14-7 lead for Milwaukee with a 6-0 streak, 14-13. Brookah Palmer, Tatyana Ndekwe and Glover put up blocks in the run, while Ndekwe registered a pair of kills.
  • The Panthers created distance with two kills and two UIC errors, 20-15.
  • Ndekwe and Musante got UIC within three, 22-19, but that would be as close as it could get, as Milwaukee took the set 25-21.
Facts & Figures
  • Tatyana Ndekwe was at the top of the offensive stats for the second-straight match, tallying a team-high seven kills. Ndekwe also added three total blocks for the defense.
  • Kiera James tallied six kills, followed by Michelle Glover and Paola Santiago with five.
  • Lauren Musante led the team in digs, finishing with eight. The sophomore also handed out 12 assists.
  • Marija Borcic dished out 16 assists and added six digs on defense.
  • Velina Minkova and Santiago recorded seven digs apiece. Manuela Conte finished with six.
  • The Panthers put down 43 kills to UIC's 34. Milwaukee also had more digs, 53-45. The Flames made more blocks, 7-6.
