Kayla Baddeley set three career highs, and the Flames won all four events, in a dual meet win over Southeast Missouri Sunday afternoon. Though the final team result was never in doubt – the Flames outscored the Redhawks by 9.55 points, as SEMO had to count multiple falls on bars in the first rotation and never recovered – the Flames had to finish strong to break the 195 point barrier. Miki Northern scored 9.850 in the anchor spot on floor to push UIC to a total of 195.100. It was the fifth time in the last six meets that the Flames reached at least 195 points.
"We got past 195 again, and we're certainly not going to complain," co-head coach
Peter Jansson said. "It was hard to find anything wrong with Kayla's vault or Serena's bars set. We thought they both could have scored over 9.9. The girls showed good concentration all day and performed like they know they can."
UIC won its sixth straight meet. It marks the first time since 2003 that a Flames squad has had at least five scores of 195 or more.
