Kayla Baddeley won the first two events of the meet, and UIC set a season high with 195.500 points in a dual meet win over Northern Illinois Sunday at the UIC Dorin Forum.
In the last home meet of the season, the Flames overcame a deficit after one rotation. They set a season high on bars in the second rotation and never looked back. The 1.525-point win over the Huskies was the second time in as many meetings this year that UIC defeated their in-state rivals.
"It was an emotional day for all of us," co-head coach
Peter Jansson said. "We had some nerves starting out on vault, but it's a credit to the girls that they regained their focus as they've done all year and brought home another 195. Kayla had a great meet and our bars squad performed as well as they have the whole season."
The final score was UIC's highest since scoring 195.600 at the MIC Championships on March 23, 2013. It was the team's best total in a home meet since 2004, when they scored 196.050. The meet was the Flames' fifth outing of 195 or higher.
