Kayla Baddeley and
Serena Baker each won an event,
Alisa Sheremeta had the second-highest score in two events, and
Mikailla Northern turned in a solid all-around performance as UIC defeated Illinois State, 194.700-193.525 Saturday afternoon. Though the Flames fell short of achieving 195 points for the fourth straight meet, they still recorded their fifth straight first place finish and moved to 2-0 in meets against Midwest Independent Conference competition.
"We earned another victory with a lot of performances worth mentioning," co-head coach
Peter Jansson said, "including
Maddie Nowak and
Riley Mahoney who both had outstanding vaults.
Kayla Baddeley looked very strong as well on floor and vault. On bars and beam, the team had to show their strength by coming back from an early fall in the lineup and making sure they hit the rest of their routines. But overall it was another strong meet."
