CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Redshirt senior
Shaun Wollenweber highlighted a handful of top-10 finishes Saturday evening as he claimed the top spot in the men's triple at the Illini Twilight Meet at the University of Illinois.
Men's Highlights
- Wollenweber's mark of 15.10 meters was the best of the young season and it helped the Flames pick up 10 team points. The Plano, Ill., native also turned in a third-place finish in the long jump Saturday, traveling a season-best 6.75 meters.
- Wollenweber's' third-place finish in the long jump was not UIC's best. Freshman Bryan Keubeng opened plenty of eyes by posting an easy PR of 7.06 meters to finish second. His previous top mark in the event was 6.80 meters at the Redbird Invitational. Keubeng nearly took the top spot as Marquette's Samuel Johnson won with a mark of 7.07 meters.
- Keubeng collected five more points for the Flames with a fourth-place finish in the high jump. It was an outdoor PR for the Plainfield, Ill,, native at 1.90 meters.
- On the track, Jakob Mogorovic cruised to a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at Illinois Track Stadium, finishing in 54.50 seconds. It was his best time in three meets of the outdoor season.
- In the men's 1,500-meter run, Alex Bashqawi ran seventh overall and posted a PR in 3:52.38. His previous top time at this distance was 3:54.74, and it came at the 2017 Illini Twilight.
Women's Highlights
- Senior Allison Hansen ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the first time in 2019 and she posted a fifth-place in 11:32.58.
- Natalie Jaramillo competed for the first time since September and she posted the top time in her heat of the women's 5K, crossing the line in 18:16.52. That was the 12th-best time of the night.
- Genora Garcia took fifth place in the shot put on Saturday. Her mark of 12.58 meters helped collect four team points for the Flames.
- Kayla Isom ran sixth in the 800-meter run, one of her specialties, at the Illini Twilight. She narrowly missed hitting a PR and finished the final heat in 2:14.43.
- Junior Roma Siddiqui went 25.97 seconds in the 200-meter dash. She also barely missed a PR in the event.
