CHICAGO -- Originally scheduled to play a three-game Horizon League series in Rochester, Mich., this weekend, UIC will now host the set against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20. Wet weather and difficult conditions have rendered Oakland Baseball Field unplayable for the weekend.

The Flames (17-13, 10-4 Horizon League), who have not actually played a game at Oakland (8-25, 6-9 Horizon League) since 2015, will be the visiting team for scorekeeping purposes this weekend. The teams will play a single game on Friday at 3 p.m., before returning to wrap up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch of game one is slated for noon.

UIC hosted the Golden Grizzlies at Granderson Stadium to begin conference play March 16-17. The Flames hit .303 in the series, while holding Oakland to a mark of .185. The three starting pitchers used by the Flames that weekend - Jacob Key, Joey Fredrickson and Patrick Martin - combined to allow just two unearned runs over 17.1 innings pitched. Offensively UIC saw three players pick up at least four hits on the weekend. Matt Bottcher had a team-high five hits while batting .417, while Thomas Smart scored four of the team's 14 runs in the series. Ryan Hampe began his remarkable run through conference play with four hits in five at-bats in two games. He also drove in three, as did Joshua Figueroa.

Oakland was led by Mario Camilletti, who had four hits and two RBI to lead the Golden Grizzlies in both categories.

Overall, the Flames are the hottest team in the conference as they enter the weekend on a six-game winning streak that began n April 7 at Youngstown State and also included a three-game sweep of Northern Kentucky at Granderson Stadium last weekend. UIC is batting .359 with 27 extra-base hits during the surge. The Flames are averaging 10.3 runs per game over the last six contests. During UIC's current six-game winning streak, Scott Ota is batting .500 (15-for-30) with three doubles, two triples, five home runs and 23 RBI. He is slugging 1.233 and has scored 10 runs for the Flames in that span. Hampe has hit .560 with five doubles, a home run and 11 RBI during the six-game winning streak. He enters Friday with an overall batting average of .443, which ranks fifth in the NCAA.
