UIC win streak halted at eight

CHICAGO – The UIC softball team (15-15) had its eight-game win streak come to a close on Tuesday afternoon after a 5-1 loss to city foe Loyola (17-13). The Flames were unable to get a runner across until their final at bat, taking their first loss since March 17.

Game Highlights
  • The Ramblers got one run across in their first at bat, stringing together a walk, two hits and a pair of fielder's choice.
  • Loyola started off the bottom of the third with back-to-back solo homeruns, 3-0. The Ramblers brought across another pair of runs later on in the inning after two walks, a UIC error and single, 5-0.
  • The Flames got on the board in the top of the seventh, as Cassie Kaelber singled, Schyler Ek walked and Jasmine Willis singled to load the bases. A grounder to the shortstop was thrown to first, allowing Kaelber to score from third, 5-1. Lexi Watts drew a walk to load the bases once more, but a fielder's choice and a pop up ended the game.
