Flames Post Top Marks at Lewis Twilight

Event victories by five UIC standouts highlight efforts in Romeoville

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- UIC traveled to nearby Romeoville, Ill., on Tuesday night to participate in the Lewis Twilight meet at Lewis Stadium. The Flames registered top performances throughout the afternoon and evening, highlighted by five event victories and multiple top-five placements.

Allison Hansen led four Flames in the top seven in the women's 1,500-meter run. The senior won the race finished in 4:48.98 ahead of teammate Kayla Isom, who set a PR in 4:53.69. Natalie Jaramillo ran sixth and Teresa Mejia was sixth in the event.

UIC earned the top two spots in the women's 200-meter dash. Freshman Destiny Tomlin continued her strong season with a victory in 26.63 seconds. Tomlin narrowly edged teammate Alimot Lawal, who finished second in 27.29. Another freshman, Tiana Henderson, was fifth in 27.45 seconds.

Freshman Joshua English claimed victory in the men's 800-meter run. He crossed the line in 1:55.75. Sirlaurence King won his heat of the same event, and finished 19th overall, in 2:08.88. King celebrated a birthday Tuesday.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Jakob Mogorovic turned in his best performance of the season to win the race in 54.31 seconds. He finished more than two seconds in front of the second-place runner on Tuesday night.

Bryan Keubeng picked his first career victory in an outdoor long jump on Tuesday, winning with a mark of 7.03 meters. He also place fifth in the high jump at 1.90 meters.
