CHICAGO --Â Behind goals from
Jacob Graiber and
Roberto Alonzo, UIC opened up Horizon League play with a 2-0 shutout victory over Green Bay Saturday evening at Flames Field.

Graiber notched his first goal of the season off a corner kick in the 20
th minute.
Jesus Perez's service in found the head of Graiber in the middle of the box, who then beat the Phoenix netminder to give the Flames the early 1-0 lead. Alonzo secured his second goal of the season in the 76
th minute.
Bar Hazut's shot was deflected away by the Green Bay goalie, but right to the foot of Alonzo, who slotted one into the back of the net.

UIC concludes a four-match homestand on Tuesday, as intercity rival DePaul comes to Flames Field. The match is set to start at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

- Eduardo Garcia nearly got the scoring started in the 11th minute, as the ball found his foot in the box. His attempt just missed the far post, leaving the score knotted at 0.
- Eight minutes later, Graiber scored the game-winner off the corner kick from Perez. It was the only corner kick of the half and only one of two corners taken by the Flames in the game.
- Green Bay picked up a yellow card in the 22nd minute after a hard tackle by Lucian Lang.
- Hazut continued to apply pressure, finding himself in a mini breakaway situation in the 29th minute, but his attempt sailed high.
- Aaron Nguyen was given a yellow card in the 34th minute following a hard challenge.
- Green Bay attempted to even the score at 1-all in the 56th minute, as a ball was fed along the ground to Robleh Omar in the box. His attempt to flick the ball on fell harmlessly into the hands of Sokratis Vasilas.
- UIC nearly extended the lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute off a free kick from the top of the box. Jose Perez Flores took the free kick, which deflected off the wall and was saved by Green Bay's Jamison Yoder.
- Bukola Abdulwahab had a breakaway in the 63rd minute but a sliding block by the Green Bay back line prevented the goal.
- The Flames broke through in the 75th minute to push the lead to 2. After Hazut's shot in the box was deflected away by the Phoenix goalie, it fell right to Alonzo who put away the rebound.

- UIC dominated the offense, tallying 21 shots to the five of Green Bay.
