CHICAGO – Ahead of her second year at the helm, head coach
Tasha Pointer revealed the UIC women's basketball schedule for the 2019-20 season on Wednesday. The competitive slate features 14 home games, including five against non-conference opponents.
The Flames will get in a preseason tune-up on Monday, Nov. 4, as they welcome Saint Louis College of Pharmacy to the Flames Athletic Center. The regular season then kicks off on the road, as UIC faces future Horizon League-member Fort Wayne on Thursday, Nov. 7.
The Flames will remain on the road, facing Kansas on Sunday, Nov. 10, before wrapping up the trip the following day with a matchup against the Jayhawks' in-state rival, Kansas State, on Monday, Nov. 11.
UIC's first home contest is slated for Saturday, Nov. 16, when it takes on Eastern Illinois. The homestand continues the following week, as it challenges Indiana State (Nov. 19) and Florida State (Nov. 23). The month of November will finish with a road contest against Miami (OH) on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
December will be spent primarily on the road, with just two games being played at home inside Credit Union 1 Arena. The Flames will take on city-rival Chicago State on their turf on Wednesday, Dec. 4, before returning home to welcome Western Michigan on Sunday, Dec. 8.
One week later its back on the road, as UIC battles Valparaiso (Dec. 15), and then returns home to close out the non-conference slate against Eastern Michigan (Dec. 18).
Horizon League action kicks off at Cleveland State (Dec. 28), and the final game of 2019 will be played on Dec. 30 at Youngstown State.
Contrary to December, six of UIC's eight contests in January will take place at home. Detroit Mercy (Jan. 2) opens up the season's-longest homestand, followed by Oakland (Jan. 4), Wright State (Jan. 9) and Northern Kentucky (Jan. 11).
The Flames will head north to face Milwaukee (Jan. 17) and Green Bay (Jan. 19), before coming back home to host IUPUI (Jan. 25) and Youngstown State (Jan. 30).
The final month of the regular season begins at home against Cleveland State (Feb. 1) and continues with a four-game road series. UIC will be at Oakland (Feb. 6) and at Detroit Mercy (Feb. 8) before re-matching with Northern Kentucky (Feb. 13) and Wright State (Feb. 15).
UIC's final weekend at home features games against Green Bay (Feb. 21) and Milwaukee (Feb. 23), and the regular season wraps up on Friday, Feb. 28 at IUPUI.
The First Round of the Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship will be played on campus sites between seeds 3-10, and will be hosted by the highest available seeds.
The opening-round winners will meet in the quarterfinals, which will be re-seeded, on Thursday, March 5, with two games being contested. The highest-remaining seed will face the lowest-remaining seed, while the other two first-round winners will play to earn a spot in the semifinals in Indianapolis. Second-round matchups will also be played on campus at the highest-available seeds.
The semifinals will also re-seed as the No. 1 seed will face the lowest-remaining seed and the No. 2 seed will play the highest-remaining seed. The winners of the two semifinal matchups will face off in the championship on Tuesday, March 10.
