Flames Drop Road Contest at Green Bay

UIC falls 73-36 to Phoenix

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The UIC women's basketball team (2-17, 1-7 HL) wrapped up its weekend in Wisconsin on Sunday with a 73-36 loss to Green Bay (9-10, 4-3 HL). Freshman Tiana Jackson led the Flames' offensive efforts with 12 points, just one-point shy of her career-high.

First Half Highlights
  • Jada Nneji scored back-to-back buckets for the Flames in their first two possessions for a 4-0 lead. A pair of free throws and a three for Green Bay forced the lead the change hands, 5-4.
  • Tiana Jackson spun around the defense and laid one up to put UIC back ahead, but the Phoenix took the next seven for a 12-6 lead.
  • Jackson ended the streak with a layup and then quickly swiped the ball away from Green Bay and ran it back for two more, putting the Flames within two, 12-10. Another 7-0 run for the Phoenix would give them a 19-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • The tough Green Bay defense kept the Flames without a field goal through the first seven minutes of the second, until Nneji was able to lay one up, 29-15.
  • Jackson picked up UIC's only other field goal in the quarter with just under a minute left on the clock, 32-17.
Second Half Highlights
  • The Phoenix started the second half with back-to-back threes, 40-17. Abreanna Lake ended the eventual 8-0 streak for the Phoenix, 42-19. Green Bay grabbed another 10 unanswered before Kimeira Burks and Jackson made consecutive scores for the Flames, 52-23.
  • A three from Kiarra Thompson ended the third quarter, 61-26.
  • Amira Coles picked up five points for the Flames in the fourth, while Burks put down a trey, but it wasn't enough as the Flames fell 73-36.
Facts & Figures
  • Tiana Jackson's 12-point performance marked her fourth double-digit scoring effort of the season. She also finished with three rebounds and a pair of steals.
  • Jada Nneji tallied six points and six rebounds for the Flames.
  • Kimeira Burks, Amira Coles and Kiarra Thompson finished with five points each.
  • 24 of UIC's 36 points came from within the paint. Green Bay finished with 32 paint points.
  • Green Bay scored 11 points off 17 UIC turnovers, while the Flames scored six from 18 Phoenix miscues.
