Ahale Named to #HLMBB All-Academic Team

Jamie Ahale was recognized by the league for success in the classroom and on the court

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Junior Jamie Ahale was named to the Horizon League's All-Academic Team, the conference office announced Thursday (Feb. 27).
 
To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
 
Ahale was named to the five-member list, and was joined by Grant Weatherford (IUPUI), Dantez Walton (Northern Kentucky) and Wright State's Cole Gentry and Bill Wampler.
 
Majoring in civil engineering, Ahale was named to the Fall 2019 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, the first semester the sharpshooter was eligible.
 
On the court, Ahale is one of three UIC players to have appeared in all 29 games to date, averaging 5.8 points and 2.7 rebounds. The junior is third on the team with 43 made 3-pointers this season and set career highs in points (23), field goals (6), three point field goals (6) and made free throws (11) in a win against San Diego on Dec. 2.

UIC returns to action Thursday (Feb. 27) evening against Detroit Mercy. Tipoff inside Credit Union 1 Arena is set for 7 p.m.
