GRIFFITH, Ind. – The UIC women's tennis team (6-2) began a stretch of four matches in six days on Saturday, taking a 5-2 win over in-state rival Bradley (6-5). The Flames battled after losing the doubles point, winning the last three singles matches consecutively to capture their third-straight win.
Doubles Highlights
Lucie Prochazkova and
Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo defeated Nina Marjanovic and Victoria Sanchez Bronzetti at No. 3, 6-4, but the next two matches would end in favor of the Braves.
Lejla Colic and
Karyna Bihel were defeated 7-5 by Sandra Maletin and Natalia Barbery at No. 1, while
Izzy Marshall and
Georgia Gulin fell short in a marathon with Bozana Lojpur and Nikki Perlwitz at No. 2, 7-6 (9).
Singles Highlights
Lucie Prochazkova dominated at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1 over Natalia Barbery to tie the match at one, and
Izzy Marshall followed with a straight-set win at No. 4, 6-3, 6-1 over Victoria Sanchez Bronzetti to put the Flames in the lead.
Lejla Colic fell at No. 1, 6-2, 6-0, to once again bring the match to a tie, but a 6-3, 6-3 win for
Georgia Gulin over Nikki Perlwitz at No. 5 put the Flames on top once more.
Karyna Bihel got the clinch at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-0 win over Bozana Lojpur and
Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo finished things off with a 7-6 (4), 6-7 (5), 10-8 win at No. 6 over Nina Marjanovic.
