GRIFFITH, Ind. – The UIC women's tennis team (7-2) cruised to its seventh win of the season and fourth-straight after a 4-0 shutout of Omaha (10-4) on Sunday. The Flames dominated doubles and took three consecutive straight-set wins in singles to put the Mavericks to bed.
Doubles Highlights
Lejla Colic and
Karyna Bihel blanked Ines Absisan and Madiosn Gallegos at No. 1, 6-0.
Lucie Prochazkova and
Izzy Marshall followed with a 6-2 win at No. 2 over Natalie Lorentz and Marie Kapelevich, handing the Flames a 1-0 lead. The No. 3 match had
Georgia Gulin and
Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo up 5-2 over Savanna Crowell and Emily Behling, but ultimately went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
Karyna Bihel and Ines Absisan met again in singles, with Bihel landing on top in the No. 2 match, 6-1, 6-1.
Izzy Marshall toppled Natalie Lorentz at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1, and
Lucie Prochazkova took down Savanna Crowell at No. 3, 7-5, 6-1 to clinch the win for the Flames.
Lejla Colic's No. 1 match,
Georgia Gulin's No. 5 match and Marina Hermanny de Figuieredo's No. 6 match all went unfinished following the UIC clinch.
