CHICAGO -- Behind a season-high 17 aces Thursday (Oct. 21) evening, the UIC picked up its third win in a row with a 3-1 victory over IUPUI inside the Flames Athletic Center.

The 17 service aces are the third most by a Horizon League school this year and most in a conference match this season.
Paola Santiago and
Martina Delucchi had five aces each while
Mikala Henderson added three.
Jaclyn Oblena,
Sohila Wafeek,
Abigail Sunga and
Amelia Sunga all had one as UIC held a 17-2 advantage in aces against the Jaguars.

Delucchi had a team-high 16 kills while Santiago was one behind with 15.
Jackie Yau had the most effective night on the attack, swinging at a .444 percentage with nine kills with one error on 18 attacks.

The Flames look to extend their winning streak to four games on Sunday, as UIC plays host to Purdue Fort Wayne. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.

How It Happened – First Set
- UIC dominated the first set thanks to its 10 aces in the opening frame.
- After a Yau kill made it 3-2 in favor of UIC, Santiago stepped back and delivered four consecutive aces to put the Flames up by a 7-2 margin.
- Back-to-back aces by Delucchi started a 4-0 run which pushed the advantage to 19-6.
- Delucchi and Yau combined for a block to seal the opening set, 25-15.

How It Happened – Second Set
- The second set was closely contested throughout, with 12 ties and seven lead changes throughout the set.
- A Jaguar error gave UIC a 16-13 lead midway through the set, the first time either side led by more than two points during the set.
- IUPUI bounced back and took the lead at 20-17 and later held a slim 22-21 margin before the Flames scored the final four points of the set to come back and take a 2-0 lead.
- Santiago had a pair of kills down the stretch while Yau and Henderson each added one.

How It Happened – Third Set
- IUPUI needed extra points in the third set but ultimately came away with a 27-25 victory to claim its first set of the night.
- The third set was even closer than the second, with 13 ties and nine lead changes between the two squads.
- UIC fought off a set point at 23-24 to earn a set point opportunity at 25-24, but three unanswered points by the Jaguars closed out the set.

How It Happened – Fourth Set
- UIC was back to its serving ways in the fourth, collecting four more aces to help seal the match.
- Owning a slim 8-7 lead, the Flames blew the set open with a 10-1 run to take a commanding 18-8 lead.
- In fitting fashion, Oblena served up an ace to seal the 3-1 victory for the Flames.
