UIC will face Robert Morris in a battle of two teams hungry for their first Horizon League win. The match will start at
4:30 p.m. Thursday at Flames Field, in a change from the original kick time of 6:00. Admission is free, and all fans are expected to follow UIC's outdoor event
masking policy.
The Flames have earned a result in each of their last two matches. A comeback against Green Bay ended in a 2-2 draw, and a defensive struggle with Youngstown State led to a scoreless draw. That left UIC with a 0-3-2 record in conference matches, identical to the Horizon League record that Robert Morris will bring into Thursday's match.
The teams have met just once previously. Last year's match was a record-setting one for
Kaitlyn Montague, who had three assists to match the program single-game high. The Flames defeated the Colonials, 3-1.
Leah Senese scored her first career goal, which was the game-winner.
While the Flames have had struggles on offense, their defense – which shut out Youngstown State for the third straight meeting on Saturday – is in the middle of the pack statistically in the Horizon League. Even in a 110-minute match, the Penguins' totals in shots, shots on goal, and corner kicks were the lowest by any UIC opponent this season. Robert Morris has scored 20 goals in 11 matches, placing them second in the conference, but they have allowed 26, which is the fourth-highest total in the league.
The match will be available on ESPN+.
