CHICAGO – UIC's Jaclyn Oblena has been recognized for her success in the classroom and in competition as the sophomore was named Honorable Mention on the Horizon League's All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests. An Honorable Mention is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.

Oblena, a native of Orland Park, Illinois, leads UIC's defense with a team-high 393 digs on the year. The marketing major ranks sixth in the Horizon League in total digs this year while her 3.67 digs per set rank seventh in the League.

The libero racked up a career-high 33 digs in UIC's 3-2 victory at Wright State on Oct. 28, tied for the third most digs in a single match by a Horizon League player this year. Oblena has also racked up 28 aces on the year, tied for third-most on the team.

UIC earned the No. 4 seed in this weekend's Horizon League Championship and will begin its tournament run on Friday, Nov. 19, against fifth-seeded Green Bay.
