Flames freshman Bailey Lutes was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week today, following her performance in UIC's win over Valparaiso last Tuesday.

Lutes had eight points and four rebounds, setting season highs in both, in UIC's win over Valparaiso.  She made the first two three-pointers of her career, and went 2-for-2 at the free throw line.  Crucially, she made a triple to put the Flames ahead for good with less than three minutes to play.  She made her free throws a minute later, in a pressure-filled situation to pad a lead that UIC would not relinquish.

Lutes is the Flames' first athlete of the week this season.  The team garnered two Freshman of the Week awards last season.

The Flames will return to the court tonight against Omaha.
