UIC will swim in its final dual meet of the fall season Saturday at league favorite Oakland.
The Flames' men picked up their first win of the campaign last week at Milwaukee. Four men won multiple events, and
Felix Lafortune was named Horizon League Diver of the Week. UIC's women fell to the Panthers, despite multiple wins from three competitors. Cydney Liebenberg earned Diver of the Week honors after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
Ben Ramminger has shown versatility through the first two meets, posting times among the team's best in distance freestyle and breaststroke events. Freshmen
Daniel Galinski, Tyler Schwertfeger, and
Cory Michalek have contributed important points.
Taira Juronis is among the league's fastest in breaststroke races this year. She is also UIC's top IM performer. Lizzie Zeller has been at the top of the team's heat sheet in the backstroke, and a relay contributor. Kalie Landrum earned the first two wins of her freshman campaign last week.
The meet will be Oakland's first in Horizon League action. The Golden Grizzly men and women both came out on top of the field at the A-10 Classic last weekend. Both genders defeated Xavier prior to that. Oakland is the defending conference men's and women's champion.
The meet will begin at 11 a.m. Central. UIC will have a week off to follow, and then will wrap up the fall at the IUPUI House of Champions invitational.
