Josh English breaks school record in final meet of 2021

CHICAGO – Josh English broke the school record in the men's 600m Friday (Dec. 10) evening as the Flames wrapped up their fall schedule at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite at the nearby Gately Center.
 
English placed third overall in the event with a time of 1:20.02 to break the school record. Jesse Casas came in 23 one-hundredths after English in 1:20.25 to place fifth overall. Casas' time is now the second-fastest in program history, surpassing the previous record of 1:23.03 set by Chris Stanley in 2000.
 
Olivia Dumas nearly set a school record in the women's 200m, finishing in a personal-best time of 25:39 to rank second in program history and just off the school record time of 25.20.
 
Max Rivera had a standout meet, etching his name into the top-10 list in a pair of events. Rivera won the title in the men's 200m (22.16), the sixth-fastest time in program history. The freshman added a seventh-place finish in the 60m (6.96) to rank seventh in the UIC record book.
 
Bailey Moran added a top-3 finish in the women's 400m, finishing in 57.61 to place third in the field. Juan Maniog ran in the men's edition of the 400m, placing 10th overall in a time of 50.88.
 
Ciana Clinton was the Flames' lone competitor in the field, placing 12th in the shot put with a mark of 11.88m.
 
The Flames return to the track on Jan. 22 at the Illini Invite.
