Nneji Breaks Blocks Record Against Green Bay

Flames fall 70-45 in road finale

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The UIC women's basketball team (3-13, 1-11 HL) finished out its regular season road slate on Saturday afternoon with a 70-45 loss to Horizon League top-contender Green Bay (13-5, 12-4 HL). Freshman Lindsey Rogers put away a career-high five threes, making her the first Flame to sink five or more treys since Nov. 7, 2018.

Senior Jada Nneji took over as UIC's all-time leader in blocks in the contest, tying the record with her first stop of the day and breaking the record with her second. Nneji finished the day matching her season high with four blocks in the game to push her career total, and the new UIC record, to 167.

Second Half Highlights
  • Green Bay took the first seven points of the second half, while holding the Flames without a score through the first four and-a-half minutes, 43-22.
  • Nneji ended the draught with a layup and Tiana Jackson followed with a three, 43-27, meanwhile the Phoenix entered a draught of their own as the offense went dry over the next four minutes.
  • A layup broke the scoreless streak for Green Bay, which was followed by the fourth triple for Rogers, 45-30.
  • The Flames picked up some momentum in the final two minutes of the third quarter, going off on a 5-0 run, 47-35. Green Bay would put in a jumper to end the streak with just over 30 seconds remaining in the frame, 49-35.
  • Rogers fired off yet another three to start things off in the fourth quarter, 49-38. The Phoenix converted a three-point play, which Schenck took right back with another three for the Flames, 52-41.
  • Green Bay fired off the next 13 unanswered to pull away from the Flames, 65-41. Schenck's third triple of the day served as the final points for UIC as the Phoenix went on to take it, 70-45.
