PEORIA, Ill. – The UIC women's tennis team (3-2) picked up its third-straight win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Eastern Michigan (2-3) by a final tally of 4-2. The Flames came out on top in doubles to take a 1-0 lead, but the Eagles fought back in singles, trading wins with UIC until the Flames were able to put together back-to-back wins at No. 2 and No. 5 to pull away from the Eagles for good.
Doubles Highlights
Agnes Gustafsson and
Nell Arendt took down Eastern Michigan's Grace Whitney and Luisa Pelayo in the No. 2 match, 6-3, but the Eagles made their reply in the No. 1 match, as Vasavi Ganeson and Isabelle Popma defeated
Lucie Prochazkova and
Ana Jover, 6-4.
Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo and
Tuva Wallin came through for UIC in the No. 3 match, besting Julia Piatek and Emma-Lou Pommiers, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point for the Flames.

Luisa Pelayo topped
Ana Jover in the No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-3, bringing the match to a 1-1 draw.
Tuva Wallin put the Flames back on top with a win at No. 4, taking down Vered Bert, 6-1, 7-6 (5). The Eagles once again replied, as Isabelle Popma outlasted
Agnes Gustafsson in the No. 1 match, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Lucie Prochazkova hung on at No. 2, defeating the Eagles' Vasavi Ganeson, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3), while
Georgia Gulin sealed the deal for UIC with a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win at No. 5 over Emma-Lou Pommiers. The No. 6 match between
Nell Arendt and EMU's Julia Piatek went unfinished.
