DAYTON, Ohio – The UIC women's tennis team (1-2) picked up its first win of the season on Saturday evening, taking down Dayton (0-3), 6-1. The Flames took wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to secure the doubles point before adding on five more wins in singles in the dominating victory.
Doubles Highlights
Tamara Malazonia and
Agnes Gustafsson started things off on a high note with a commanding 6-1 win at No. 1 over Dayton's Paige Kompa and Elizabeth Hamilton.
Lucie Prochazkova and
Ana Jover kept the momentum going at No. 2, securing a 6-3 win over Erica Wojcikiewicz and Natalie Stanton to hand the doubles point to the Flames. The No. 3 match between UIC's
Georgia Gulin and
Nell Arendt as well as Dayton's Kelly Pleian and Clair Ghidotti went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
Georgia Gulin earned her third-straight win with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sarah DeMarco in the No. 5 match, and
Tuva Wallin followed with another win for the Flames in the No. 6 match, as she soundly defeated Natalie Stanton, 6-1, 6-0.
Ana Jover gave the win to UIC in the No. 4 match, taking down Kelly Pleiman in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Lucie Prochazkova came away with a win at No. 3, besting Elizabeth Hamilton, 6-4, 6-2. The lone win for the Flyers came in the No. 2 match, as Erica Wojcikiewicz got the best of
Agnes Gustafsson, 6-4, 6-7 (4-6), 11-9.
Tamara Malazonia picked up another win for the Flames at No. 1, defeating Paige Koma, 6-3, 5-7, 10-8.
