COLUMBIA, Mo. – A pair of top-10 finishes by Teresa Mejia and
Carlos Cabrera highlighted the condensed action by the UIC track and field program during Day 1 of the Mizzou Spring Opener.

Friday's abbreviated action featured three events in the field (hammer, long jump, javelin) and two on the track (1500m, 5000m), with UIC competing in the two track events.

In the women's 5000m, Mejia captured fifth place, finishing in a time of 17:52.32. On the men's side, Cabrera placed seventh overall, crossing the line in 14:54.03.

Taylor Frommer finished in 16
th place in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:55.04 and was followed by Jenna Boyle in 20
th position (5:00.28). Rosie Campbell-Watt placed 24
th overall (5:07.62) and Rylee Fee claimed 32
nd (5:23.85).

Dathan Maton posted a time of 4:04.57 to claim 15
th place on the men's side, with
Martin Skucas crossing the line two positions later in a time of 4:05.81.
Nathan Lim and
Luke Malone finished back-to-back in times of 4:14.39 and 4:14.69, respectively, to claim 26
th and 27
th place.
