Flames Power Past Roosevelt in Sixth-Straight Win, 7-0

Gustafsson, Arendt and Wallin each earn shutout victories

CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (10-4) rematched with city foe Roosevelt (0-2) on Sunday, cruising to a 7-0 win over the Lakers to extend its win streak to six-straight matches. The Flames were firing on all cylinders, as Agnes Gustafsson, Nell Arendt and Tuva Wallin all took home shutout wins over their opponents in the victory.

Doubles Highlights
Ana Jover and Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo shut out Roosevelt's Kyal Eaton and Ava Collins, 6-0 in the No. 2 match to start things off on a high note for the Flames. Tamara Malazonia teamed up with Gustafsson at No. 1 to defeat Maria Rivas and Grace Hahn, 6-3, giving UIC the doubles point and the 1-0 lead. The No. 3 match went to UIC by default.

Singles Highlights
The No. 6 match went to UIC by default, giving UIC a 2-0 advantage. Gustafsson made quick work of Hahn in the No. 2 match, earning a 6-0, 6-0 shutout to put the Flames ahead by three, 3-0. Nell Arendt followed at No. 3 with another shutout win, this one over Eaton, allowing UIC to clinch the win. Tuva Wallin blanked Meryem Ahmed in the No. 5 match, 6-0, 6-0, and Hermanny de Figueiredo was victorious over Collins at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0. Malazonia finished things out with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Rivas, sealing the deal on the shutout win for the Flames, 7-0.
