INDIANAPOLIS – The UIC women's tennis team (11-4, 3-0 HL) picked up its second-straight shutout victory and extended its win streak to seven on Saturday, taking down Horizon League foe IUPUI (2-7, 0-3 HL) on the road, 7-0.
Agnes Gustafsson and
Ana Jover highlighted the win for the Flames, blanking their opponents in the No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches.
Doubles Highlights
Jover and
Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo defeated IUPUI's Marta Krakowski and Ines Rivera at No. 3, 6-2. Gustafsson paired up with
Tamara Malazonia at No. 1, taking down Gabrielle Ochalik and Sarah Lounsbury by the same score, 6-2, giving the Flames the early 1-0 lead. The No. 3 doubles match featuring UIC's Lucie Prochakova and
Nell Arendt and IUPUI's Meghan Bernard and Samantha Hayward went unfinished.
Singles Highlights
Jover shutout Bernard, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and Gustafsson followed with her shutout over Lounsbury at No. 2, quickly giving UIC a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Georgia Gulin clinched the win for UIC in the No. 4 match, dominating the Jags' Hawyard in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Arendt added to UIC's win with a dominating victory of her own, taking down Krakowski at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0. Malazonia bested Ochalik at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1, while Hermanny de Figueiredo finished things off at No. 6 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Rivera.
