CHICAGO – The UIC volleyball team (10-1, 10-1 HL) picked up its fourth-straight win on Monday evening, taking down Horizon League foe Green Bay (4-9, 4-9 HL) by a 3-1 (25-15, 15-25, 25-18, 26-24) score to remain a perfect 7-0 this season at home. The Phoenix nearly forced the tiebreaker set, taking a 17-11 lead in set four, but the Flames clawed their way back, eventually coming back to win it 26-24 to end the match for good.
Set One Highlights
- The Flames extended an early 7-4 lead with a 6-0 run, pushing their lead to nine, 13-4.
- Green Bay scored the next three, 13-7, before the Flames fired off the next seven, 20-7. The run featured kills from Zahria Woodard, Paola Santiago and Becca Oldendorf, as well as four Phoenix attack errors.
- Green Bay killed three of the next four, 21-10, before kills from Oldendorf and a pair of Phoenix miscues would end it, 25-10.
Set Two Highlights
- Green Bay quickly turned the tables, taking a 14-7 lead in set two.
- Two kills from Santiago and a Phoenix attack error put the Flames within five, 15-10, but Green Bay would take six of the next seven to put the set out of reach, 21-11.
- Francesca Wagoner and Alexandria Hicks contributed kills and Oldendorf put down an ace, but the Flames were unable to summon a comeback, dropping the set 25-15.
Set Three Highlights
- UIC used a 4-0 run to push a one-point lead to a five-point lead, 17-12.
- Green Bay chipped in a kill before Mikala Henderson and Woodard helped the Flames take the next three, 20-13.
- The Phoenix took three unanswered, 20-16, but that was as close as they would get, as the Flames went on to win it, 25-18.
Set Four Highlights
- Set four was a thriller, as the Phoenix built a 17-11 lead after a pair of 4-0 runs. The Flames picked up four of the next five to cut the lead down to three, 18-15.
- After a Phoenix kill made it 19-15, UIC sped off on a 6-0 run to turn the tides and take over the lead, 21-19. Mikala Henderson and Zahria Woodard contributed a block to the run, while Martina Delucchi put down four kills during the streak.
- Green Bay eventually brought the set back to a tie at 23, but a service error would put the Flames at set point, 24-23.
- The Phoenix found the floor in the next play to force the game into extra points, 24-24.
- Terminations from Oldendorf and Delucchi would finish off the Phoenix for good, 26-24. Â

- UIC's 10-1 start to the season is the fastest it has reached 10 wins on the season since the 2016 squad started the season at 10-0.
- Martina Delucchi led the Flames all around the court with her fourth double-double of the season, leading UIC in both kills (12) and digs (17).
- Paola Santiago picked up her third straight double-double, tallying 10 kills to go with 12 digs.
- Becca Oldendorf finished with nine kills, while Mikala Henderson finished with seven.
- Alexandria Hicks and Zahria Woodard each brought in five kills. Woodard also turned in a team-high four blocks, followed closely by Hicks with three.
- Libero Jaclyn Oblena recorded 10 digs for the defense.
- Sohila Wafeek and Morgan Kull shared the setting duties, with Wafeek handing out 23 assists and Kull handing out 21.
- The Flames hit .226 (51k-21e-133a) compared to .168 (47k-23e-143a) hitting for the visitors.
- Green Bay finished with more blocks 7-6, but the Flames had more kills (51-47) as well as digs (63-58). UIC also tallied more assists, 48-41.
