Flames Cruise to 6-1 Victory, Sweep Panthers

UIC moves into first place in the Horizon League

MILWAUKEE – The UIC women's tennis team (15-5, 7-1 HL) cruised to a dominating 6-1 win over Horizon League foe Milwaukee (10-7, 3-5 HL) on Sunday, winning the doubles point and taking five out of six singles matches to earn the win and complete the series sweep over the Panthers. The sweeping victory also allowed UIC to move into first place in the Horizon League standings, owning a 7-1 record with just two conference matches left to play on the schedule.

Doubles Highlights
Lucie Prochazkova and Ana Jover continued their dominance from the No. 2 position, defeating Anna Daniel Fuentes and Agata Jurczak, 6-3, for their fourth-straight win as a pair. Tamara Malazonia and Agnes Gustafsson bested Greta Carbone and Nikki Milner once again, taking a 6-2 win in the No. 1 match to clinch the doubles point for UIC. The No. 3 match between UIC's Nell Arendt and Georgia Gulin and Milwaukee's Mayya Perova and Anika Tylek went unfinished.

Singles Highlights
Prochazkova earned her sixth-straight singles win in the No. 3 match, toppling over Daniel Fuentes, 6-1, 6-2. Gulin defeated Tylek at No. 5, 6-2, 6-1, to put the Flames one win away, and Gustafsson followed with another win to clinch the match for UIC, taking down Perova in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.
