CHICAGO – Incoming UIC signee Filip Skobalj will represent his native country of Serbia this summer as the 6-foot-7 forward will compete in the 2021 U19 FIBA World Cup, held in Latvia.

Skobalj and the Serbian National Team have been placed in Group B of the tournament, which takes place July 3-11, and will compete in pool play action against Puerto Rico, Iran and the hosts Lativa. Following pool play, all 16 teams in the field will be seeded into a single-elimination bracket based on their performance in the pool play round.

Serbia will open its pool play competition on Saturday, July 3
rd against Iran, before closing out action against Puerto Rico (July 4) and Latvia (July 6).

Skobalj was a member of Serbia's 2019 U18 FIBA European Championship squad that finished in 10
th place. The forward averaged 5.9 points and two rebounds per contest, with a tournament high 14 points against Germany in the knockout round.
