Flames Host Green Bay on Sunday Afternoon

Each Team Seeks First Conference Win

9/25/2021 5:03:00 PM

UIC will play its first of two home games in a three-game span on Sunday, when the Flames host Green Bay in a matchup of squads searching for their first Horizon League win.

Admission to Flames Field is free.  Spectators are expected to follow UIC's outdoor event masking policy.

The Flames won five in a row against Green Bay, dating back to 2015, until a draw with the Phoenix in last season's tilt at Flames Field.  Still, UIC holds a 5-1-1 advantage in the series as they seek their first win of the campaign.

A single goal may prove to be decisive Sunday afternoon.  The Flames scored once in their last home game, but are coming off a shutout loss to Oakland.  Meanwhile, Green Bay has scored just one goal in league play, in compiling a 0-1-2 record in conference matches.

David Nikolic said that his squad had a good mentality and a good work rate for most of the match against Oakland, but a lack of focus at the start put the Flames behind by two goals very early.  UIC was on the front foot in last year's match against Green Bay, with a 21st-minute goal opening the scoring and a total of 12 shots on goal to set a season high.

First touch will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.  Live coverage can be seen on ESPN+.
