DEKALB, Ill. - The UIC Flames (1-3) defeated the Eastern Illinois Panthers from their perfect singles play. The Flames went 6-0 in singles against the Panthers, with
Ammar Wazir picking up his first win as a Flame. "The energy in singles was outstanding," said head coach
Hans Neufeld. The Flames notched their first win of the season against the Panthers.
Against the Huskies of Northern Illinois, the Flames struggled. "We came out slow in doubles vs. NIU. We competed better in doubles overall but need to improve our team play," said Neufeld. The Flames have struggled in doubles in this early season, possibly because of some early season rust that the team is still working through.
The Flames will be back this week, Sunday, Jan. 30 to face Chicago rival Depaul.
