UIC will make its long-anticipated return to the courts Sunday in a dual match at Toledo.

The Flames are 1-0 in dual matches this season, with a win over Grand Valley State coming last fall before standout performances at the Northwestern Invitational and ITA Super Regionals.  Ana Jover, who qualified for Super Regionals and went undefeated in doubles at the Northwestern event, is one of several Flames who will look to build on strong showings in the fall.

Agnes Gustafsson teamed with Jover to sweep three Big Ten doubles teams in October.  Nell Arendt took down a singles foe from Iowa, and Dominika Hrabalova picked up two singles wins as well.

The Flames and Rockets have built a consistent rivalry over the last 13 seasons.  UIC is 9-4 against Toledo in that span, but the MAC squad has taken two of the last three meetings.  Jover and Arendt each won in singles play against the Rockets last year.  Marina Hermanny de Figueiredo was part of a winning doubles team in UIC's win over Toledo in 2020, which was the last time the squads faced off in Ohio.

Toledo dropped a match to FGCU, and then rebounded with a win over Liberty two weeks ago.  They are slated to play Horizon League foe Youngstown State Saturday before the Flames come to town.
