Undefeated in their last four matches, UIC will host Northern Iowa at Flames Field Thursday in a pivotal Missouri Valley matchup. The Flames are in a tie for third place in the conference, and while their current Valley record is a Chicago-friendly 3-1-2, a win would keep them in the upper tier of programs jockeying for postseason seeding.
UIC posted a season high-tying two goals on Sunday at Drake.
Sophia Jaime scored a goal for the third straight match. All three have been the deciding goal in the result.
Frankie Frericks also scored against the Bulldogs as the Flames put a season high-tying eight shots on goal.
The Flames have won their last two matches via shutout, and have blanked four of their six Valley opponents.
Lauren Keiser has not allowed a goal in the last 264 minutes, setting a personal record, and was named Valley Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday. She is in the top three in the conference in goals-against average and save percentage.
UNI has tied their last four matches, with the last three all coming via a 1-1 score. Currently occupying the eighth and final tournament slot, they will be trying to maintain contact with the top teams in the conference. Lauren Heinsch leads the team with four goals and has added one assist. Sydney Burskey is the team leader in the assist department, with three. Caitlin Richards has been the primary goalkeeper, though Brittney Bentheimer played their last game against Southern Illinois.
The first 350 UIC students through the gates will receive a UIC Soccer scarf. The match will start at 6 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
