Visit to League-Leading Bears Coming Up Sunday

UIC Will Take On Missouri State

10/15/2022 4:39:00 PM

UIC will put its five-match unbeaten streak on the line in its final road game of the season, against league-leading Missouri State Sunday afternoon.

The Flames drew with UNI on Thursday, 0-0, in posting their third straight shutout and fifth in Valley play.  It was a dominant performance from the Flames offense, as they dictated pace to a 14-4 margin in shots and a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.  Three Flames shots hit the crossbar, making the team a combined 18 inches from a 3-0 win.

Lauren Keiser, the reigning Missouri Valley Goalkeeper of the Week, has not allowed a goal in the last 350-plus minutes.  In front of her, the team's back line has settled into a groove.  Yulexi Diaz, Makenna Maloy, and Chopper Carriere have each played the full 90 minutes in two of the last three matches.

UIC is alone in fourth place in the Valley.  Taking points from first place Missouri State would go a long way toward firming up their tournament seeding, with only two more matches to follow.  The Bears are 6-1-1 in conference matches.  Grace O'Keefe and Hailey Chambliss have each scored four goals.  Camielle Day has posted seven shutouts, and shared an eighth, with an .800 save percentage.

Sunday's match will be the first ever between the programs.  The Bears will become the seventh team this year that the Flames have faced for the first time.

The match will begin at 1:00 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN3.
