With two players in the singles main draw, and a doubles team in the final 16, UIC was well represented at the ITA Midwest Regionals this weekend.
Ana Jover won two matches in the singles qualifying draw. She topped Northern Illinois in the first round, and cruised past Bowling Green in the second round, 6-2, 6-1. That qualified her for the main singles draw, where
Agnes Gustafsson was also entered as a pre-qualifier.
Both Flames fell in the main draw round of 64 to players from Power Five schools.
Jover and Gustafsson beat a team from Illinois, 8-4, in the first round of the doubles main draw. They topped a Marquette duo, 8-3, to move into the top 16. In that round, a top-four seeded team from Wisconsin ended their run.
Natalia Nikolopoulou finished her weekend with a win. After falling to Marquette in the first round of singles qualifying, she defeated Northern Illinois in a consolation match.
The Flames will be off until January, when the dual match season begins.
