CHICAGO – The UIC cross country team will head to Colombia, Missouri, Friday morning for the 2022 NCAA Midwest Regional. The University of Missouri will serve as the host institution for the postseason race featuring 34 women's squads and 30 men's programs.

"We are excited for the opportunity to compete against some of the best programs in the country tomorrow," said interim head coach Paul Zavala. "Our team's focus all season was centered on competing at a high level in the postseason and we look forward to making these Regional Championships a memorable one."

The women's 6k race will open the day of racing, with the runner's taking off at 11 a.m. The men's 10k race will follow at 12 p.m.

UIC will send six runners on each squad to Columbia, a site the Flames know well. Earlier this year, the Flames competed at Missouri's Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 30. The Flames put forward a strong effort, as 12 of the 19 runners set new personal bests while three runners entered or moved up on UIC's top-10 performance lists.
