Final Fall Competition Pits Flames Against Top Midwestern Teams

House of Champions Invitational On Tap This Weekend

11/16/2022 4:10:00 PM

UIC is primed for one more weekend of competition at the prestigious House of Champions invitational, hosted by IUPUI.  Action will begin Thursday and continue through Saturday at the IUPUI Natatorium.

The site of several US Olympic trials and national championships, the IUPUI Natatorium is also the pool in which many Flames have set personal best times.  Even as most swimmers saw their times fall throughout the first three dual meets last month, they will look for further improvement at the House of Champions before the team breaks for a two-month training period.

Taira Juronis has been a leader for the women's team.  She already has a Missouri Valley Swimmer of the Week award to her credit on the young season.  Bella Drake was named the conference Freshman of the Week once, and Ciara McCliment is a two-time MVC Diver of the Week.

UIC's men have had several swimmers win multiple events in their two meets to date.  Liam Davis, Jan Komorowski, and Jeff Wiedoff are among the individual event winners.  The team's 200 medley relay squad improved its time from the first meet to the second.  Cole Tremewan and Bruno Carrillo have been the men's top divers.

The three-day event will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. with three swimming events in the morning session, and five more in the evening.  Full days of competition will continue Friday and Saturday.  Teams from Butler, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Lewis, the host Jaguars, and UIC will contend for regional bragging rights.

Live results throughout the weekend can be found on Meet Mobile and divemeets.com.
