CHICAGO – UIC head baseball coach
Sean McDermott announced on Thursday, Nov. 17, the signing of six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the Fall signing period. All six student-athletes, currently seniors in high school, are set to join the Flames in the fall of 2023.
Â
"I could not be more excited about our 2023 high school recruiting class," said McDermott. "We have added motivated, driven and talented players. That being said, this group's greatest asset is their competitive nature. These guys all come from highly successful programs that are used to sacrificing for the team's success. We have added players that want to prepare to be great and compete for championships."
Â
Of the six newcomers coming to Granderson Stadium next season, four are position players while two are pitchers. The Flames will welcome right-handers Michael Belbot (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) and Presley Wachowiak (Brookfield, Wis.) to bolster UIC's pitching depth while catcher Vidal Colon (Grafton, Wis.), infielder Pambos Nicoloudes (Naperville, Ill.) and outfielders Garrett Kay (Waterford, Wis.) and Lucas Smith (Hinsdale, Ill.) will all look to make an impact on the field and at the dish.
Â
"Coach Flood and Coach Hayden have worked very hard and continue to identify players that fit well into our culture: good students, talented players and great people."
