BRONX, N.Y. – Behind a flurry of 3-pointers, the UIC men's basketball team defeated Stonehill, 77-71, in the program's second game of the Tom Konchalski Classic.

UIC hit a season-high 14 3-pointers, connecting at a 46.7% clip. Conversely, the Flames clamped down at the arc defensively, limiting the Skyhawks to just 5-for-17 (29.4%) from long distance.

Jace Carter led all scorers with a career-high 28 points, his second 20-point performance of the season. Carter was 10-for-14 from the field, including five three-pointers to match a career high from beyond the arc. A native of Titusville, Florida, Carter also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds.

The sophomore was 1-of-4 Flames to finish in double figures.
Tre Anderson added 18 points, including four 3-pointers,
Toby Okani added 11 and
Filip Skobalj came off the bench to go 4-for-8 from deep to contribute 12 points to the winning effort.

The Flames controlled the tempo for most of the first half, leading for 15:58 of the first 20 minutes. Carter led the way, single-handedly scoring almost half of UIC's 37 points. The guard was 7-for-10 from the field in the first half to score 17 points while
Tre Anderson hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give him nine in the half and provide the Flames a four-point cushion at the break.

After Stonehill came back to take a one-point lead, Skobalj hit 3-pointers on three consecutive possessions to put the Flames back in front, 50-44, with 15:48 remaining in the game. They Skyhawks once again battled back to lead 59-58 with just under eight minutes left before an 8-0 run from Carter alone put UIC ahead for good. Carter started the run with a layup before consecutive triples. Free throws down the stretch by UIC prevented the Skyhawks from climbing back into the contest.
