UIC will host two matches at XS Tennis this weekend. Eastern Michigan, a late addition to the schedule, will come to town Friday morning, and Illinois State will visit on Sunday.
The Flames have split their two dual matches to date in 2022, with a convincing 6-1 win over Bradley their most recent result. Doubles play has been stellar for the team, as they have swept the doubles point in both of their recent matches and are 14-5 overall in doubles competition.
Ana Jover (8 total wins) and
Dominika Hrabalova (5) are the team's leaders in singles victories.
Eastern Michigan dropped a pair of matches in West Virginia, to Murray State and Marshall. They are slated to play Cleveland State Friday before heading to Chicago. The Eagles will play six matches in four days from Thursday to Sunday. The team can go nine players deep in their singles lineup. Sabina Brichackova is the team leader with seven singles wins. Jover defeated her in singles play at ITA Regionals in September, and Jover teamed with
Agnes Gustafsson to take down an EMU doubles team.
Illinois State had a three-match winning streak snapped last Sunday at Illinois. The Redbirds had won all seven points in each of their three wins before falling to the Illini by a 7-0 score. Penelope Abreu and Alexandra Abyasova are the current Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week. Abyasova and Tijana Zlatanovich both qualified for ITA Super Regionals in singles play.
Friday's match will begin at 9:30 a.m. Action on Sunday will start at 1 p.m.
