ALLENDALE, Mich. – The UIC men's and women's track and field teams made the trek to Grand Valley State for the third weekend in a row, competing in GVSU's annual Big Meet. The Flames excelled on the track and in field, bringing home a number of personal bests over the long day of competition.

"After a pretty emotion week it was a mixed bag of performances," said head coach Ashley Lucas. "We still had a lot of PRs and then noticed some things that we need to improve upon. Performances of the meet have to go to Rosie (Campbell-Watt) for Pring by in the 5k by 40 seconds, Ciana (Clinton) nearly missing the shot put school record and Dathan (Maton) running a big PR in the 3k. What I'm most proud of is how the team is just really rallying around each other and picking each other up."

Ciana Clinton set a PR in UIC's lone field event, claiming eighth in the shot put with a new personal best throw of 12.96m.

Rosie Campbell-Watt shattered her personal best by 40 seconds, crossing the line of the 5000m in a time of 18:23.91. Maxum Caesar also set PR in the men's 5000m with a new top time of 15:47.61.

UIC's distance runners put up strong results in the men's and women's 3000m. Teresa Mejia set a PR on the women's side with a time of 10:12.11 while Dathan Maton broke his PR by almost 10 seconds, crossing the line in 8:36.41. Carlos Cabrera also ran in the event, posting a time of 8:29.22.

Bailey Moran claimed 13th place in the women's 400m with a time of 57.36 while Jesse Casas took 21st in the men's event (49.33).

In the 800m, Kate Wojcikiewicz set a PR after finishing in a time of 2:20.13. On the men's side, Tre Rivers also topped his personal best time, setting a new PR after finishing in 1:56.55.
