OMAHA, Neb. - UIC men's tennis (1-7) fell to the Bluejays of Creighton (3-4), 6-1 on Friday, Feb. 18. UIC put up a valiant effort against the Bluejays but was unable to secure a win in the first match of the weekend. UIC will face off against the University of Nebraska - Omaha tomorrow at noon.
"We had our chances in doubles," said head coach
Hans Neufeld. "Good effort came out with good energy."
The Flames competed well in doubles, with the team of
Ammar Wazir and
Kevin Kruzel coming the closest to victory, but the pair inevitably fell, 7-6.Â
Pelle Strandberg pulled off an impressive victory in singles play, coming back from a 4-1 deficit to win the Flames lone singles point. Wazir played hard in singles as well, forcing three sets, but fell.
UIC will be back tomorrow, Feb. 19, at noon to face off against the UNO Mavericks.
