@UIC_WBB Wraps Up Final Road Trip At Milwaukee

The Flames Take On The Jaguars For The Last Road Game Of The Regular-Season

2/18/2022 5:12:00 PM

UIC women's basketball (2-21, 1-17 Horizon) wraps up their final road trip of the regular season at Milwaukee (11-14, 10-8 Horizon) on Feb. 19, at 2:00 p.m. The Flames are coming off a 75-46 loss to Green Bay on Thursday evening at the Kress Center. Milwaukee most recently fell to IUPUI, 71-59.

The last time these two teams squared off was Jan. 6, at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago. The Flames were only able to suit seven players after returning from COVID-19 protocol against the Jaguars but played them strong. Jaida McCloud put up her first double-double of the season against Milwaukee, notching 15 points and 11 rebounds. McCloud also registered five assists, four steals, and one block against the Jags.

Ky Dempsey-Toney scored a career-high 15 points the last time these two teams faced off. Lindsey Rogers was also feeling it offensively, scoring 14 points, which is her season-high. With the impressive output by the seven suited players, the Flames were able to hold Milwaukee to 33% shooting from the field. The Flames will look for a similar spark defensively against the Jaguars on Saturday while cutting down on their turnover numbers.

Milwaukee has one of the strongest forwards in the Horizon League in Megan Walstad. The redshirt-sophomore is averaging 15 points and 8.6 rebounds a game; while also recording the second-most blocks in the Horizon League. In the two team's last meeting, Walstad scored only seven points and grabbed only six rebounds. Dempsey-Toney outworked the forward in their last match-up, with McCloud assisting in slowing down the 6'2" Milwaukee forward.

Tip off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 19. This will be the last road game of the regular season.
