CHICAGO - The UIC Flames (2-23, 1-19 Horizon) fell in a closely fought battle to the Robert Morris Colonials ( ), 57-50. The Flames were led by an impressive offensive outing from
Jaida McCloud. McCloud finished the game with 26 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Kristian Young impressed as well, tying a career-high with 12 rebounds to go along with four assists and eight points. UIC will host Youngstown State on Feb. 26 for the final game of the regular season.
The Flames were slow to start but quickly turned it around in the first quarter. Young took over offensively, scoring six of her eights points in the first quarter. Young's efforts kept UIC close at the end of the first quarter. Robert Morris shot 46% on the quarter and finished up with the lead over UIC, 15-12.
The Flames continued to battle in the second quarter of the game, but Robert Morris caught stride in the second, outscoring the Flames by six points. UIC fought back against Robert Morris but struggled offensively going into halftime.Â
UIC came out of halftime hot offensively behind the offensive output of McCloud. McCloud put up 11 points and four rebounds in the quarter. McCloud shot 80% on the quarter, going 4-5 from the field and 3-3 from the free-throw line.Â
In the final quarter of play, both teams battled back and forth in the quarter. McCloud continued to lead the way in the final quarter, scoring nine of the Flames' 11 points.
Lindsey Rogers scored the Flames' other two points in the quarter. UIC put up a valiant effort, coming within two points but ultimately falling to Robert Morris at home.Â
UIC will wrap up the regular season at Credit Union 1 Arena against Youngstown State on Saturday, Feb. 26. Tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
