UIC will put their season-high four match winning streak on the line in Indianapolis, where they will play their final two non-conference opponents this weekend.
Matches against Western Kentucky on Saturday, and against Butler on Sunday, will give the team their final opportunities to prepare for the round-robin Horizon League schedule. UIC has an 8-3 record to date, meaning a weekend sweep would match last year's mark of 10 non-conference wins. The Flames have been solid at the top of their lineup, posting a 27-6 record across the first three singles flights.Â
Ana Jover highlights the group with a perfect 11-0 dual match record, while
Agnes Gustafsson is 9-2 at #1.
Western Kentucky comes to Indy with a 13-6 record. They will face Butler Friday. Rachel Hermanova leads the team with 15 singles wins, coming across three flights. Laura Bernardos is 10-4 in the #2 singles slot. Paola Cortez has 11 total wins on the singles courts. She and Cora-Lynn von Dungern are 13-1 at #1 doubles.
Butler is 5-11 overall, but two of their wins have come in the last four matches. Previously, they earned wins over Horizon League opponents Milwaukee and Cleveland State. The teams have two opponents in common thus far. UIC defeated Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan, and Butler lost to the Broncos and beat the Eagles.
Saturday's match will begin at 10 a.m. Central, and Sunday's match will get under way at 9 a.m.
