YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ammar Wazir picked up his second singles win of the weekend Saturday afternoon as the UIC men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Youngstown State in the Flames' final road match of the regular season.
 
"Ammar played well this weekend and will be moving up in the lineup as a result," said head coach Hans Neufeld. "We have to regroup and get ready for our Senior Day against Northern Kentucky."
 
The Penguins secured the doubles point with a pair of matching 6-2 wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots. The duo of Theo Duclos Amaral Silveira and Francesco Tacconi were tied up at 4-all at the No. 3 position when they had their match stopped.
 
Youngstown State carried its momentum into singles play, picking up straight sets wins at the No. 4, 6 and 3 spots to clinch the match. Wazir put the Flames on the board in the No. 5 spot when he defeated Youngstown State's Javi Pla, 6-4, 6-1.
 
The Penguins would claim the final two singles matches to close out the 6-1 victory.
 
UIC returns home for its regular season finale, playing host to Northern Kentucky on Senior Day. First serve at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts is set for 2 p.m.
